What we build · Fintech apps

Financial apps built around your business.

A financial app is where a customer, a partner or your own staff meets your business. The screen has to be simple to use, and the number on it has to be right.

We build the app layer for brokers, funds, banks and NBFCs. That covers the app a customer opens, the app a partner sells from, and the tools your staff use. Mobile builds use React Native, so one build covers iOS and Android. Web builds use ReactJS on AWS.

What we can build

Build the financial app your business actually needs.

Every app starts with the people who open it. A customer may check holdings, place an order or read a statement. A partner may track commission and payouts. Your staff may approve requests all day. We design the screens around those tasks rather than around a template.

Mobile fintech apps

One React Native codebase ships the iOS build and the Android build, and each screen is cut from the task the user already performs. Login and device access are set up the way your team issues access today, and offline handling covers the points where the network drops.

Financial web applications

Browser builds in ReactJS carry the same journeys as the mobile app, including the states between the screens: loading, empty, and what a user sees when a request fails. The web build does not wait for the mobile release to be finished.

Investment applications

Investment apps come down to four or five screens a user returns to (holdings, product detail, a transaction, a statement), so those get designed and tested first. The market data source is agreed before the build starts rather than at integration.

Broker applications

Broker app work is the client end and the partner end: a distributor who can see their own book, a customer who can act in the app instead of calling, and the internal screens those two sit on. All three run from one codebase, so a change to the partner view ships with the customer release.

Fund & asset management applications

The app side is usually read and approve: reporting views, document access, and an approval step that works from a phone. Role-based login carries over from the web system, so a user sees the screens their role already allows.

Internal financial apps

Internal builds replace the step a team currently runs through email and a spreadsheet, and they ship as an app when the people doing that work are on their feet or offline part of the day. Device access and offline handling are settled in the first iteration, not bolted on at the end.

Where it helps

What can we build?

Customer-facing financial apps

Applications that allow customers to access products, information, transactions, and services.

Partner applications

Tools that help brokers, distributors, agents, or other business partners manage their relationship with your organisation.

Investment platforms

Web and mobile experiences for investment products and financial services.

Employee applications

Internal applications that simplify employee workflows and access to business systems.

Financial management applications

Applications for managing specific financial processes, information, and operational workflows.

Custom financial products

New fintech products built around an idea that doesn't fit an existing application.

Our approach

What makes a good fintech app?

Simple for the user

Financial products can be complicated. The application shouldn't be. We focus on making the experience clear and easy to use.

Built around your workflows

The app needs to work for your business as well as your users. We build around the processes your teams actually follow.

Connected to your existing systems

Your application often needs to work with systems already used by your business. We can build the new experience around those systems where appropriate.

Ready to grow

Your first version is rarely your final product. We build with the expectation that your application will change as your users, products, and business grow.

How we work

From idea to app launch.

  1. 01

    Understand

We sit with the people who will use the app and write the first release as a list of screens, each named for the task it completes. A screen that cannot be described as a task does not go in release one.

  2. 02

    Plan

Each screen gets its journey in and out, and each journey gets the systems it calls, so the market data source and the identity provider are named before the build starts. Screen states get listed here too, because they change the work more than the screens do.

  3. 03

    Design

Design covers the screen states as well as the screen, so loading, empty, a failed request and no signal are all drawn before anything is built. An early prototype runs on a real device, because a layout that works on a laptop rarely survives a thumb.

  4. 04

    Build

Two-week increments each end in a tagged release your team can install on a real device, so feedback arrives on the app rather than in a status report. One codebase is what ships to both platforms.

  5. 05

    Launch & improve

The app ships to a first group of users, and the weeks after that set the next tagged release: what users report and what the logs show both go back into the build. Release, then iterate on what the real users hit.

Who it's for

Who we build fintech apps for

Brokers

Apps your clients trade in, your sub-brokers sell from, and your support desk watches.

Mutual Funds & AMCs

Screens for scheme information, transactions and investor reporting, on mobile and web.

AIFs & Fund Businesses

Applications for a single fund's workflow: capital calls, investor records and reporting.

Banks & NBFCs

Customer apps, employee tools and internal screens for the processes your teams run daily.

Investment Businesses

Apps where customers buy the product, and the operations view that supports them.

Why Latent

Why work with Latent?

We understand financial products.

We start with a NAV, an order ticket or a payout statement. Read the product wrong and every screen after it is wrong.

We build custom.

Every screen is ours, built from your product's rules rather than a vendor's.

We work with your team.

Your operations team gets a build to open, not a status report. Questions come back the same week, before the work hardens.

We don't disappear after launch.

The first release finds problems no test plan does. We stay on for the store updates, the fixes and the second version.

Our position
You may be adding features to an app you already ship, or building the first version. We start with the screens and workflows, and you review the design in Figma before code.
How we approach it

Questions

Fintech app development, answered

What is fintech app development?

The work of putting a financial product where someone can open it: the app screens, the services they call, and the release cycle that lands a new version on a phone. Your team reviews the screens, then the build goes out through the App Store and Google Play.

What types of fintech apps does Latent build?

Apps where money or positions are the point. We built the channel partner app Upstox's partners run their network from, the social investing platform Parrot Finance is built on, the employee application Saudi National Bank uses, and the fund and ETF applications behind Motilal Oswal AMC's operations. Trading apps, investor apps and internal tools follow the same pattern.

Can you build both web and mobile fintech apps?

Yes, and one codebase covers both. React Native ships your iOS and Android builds from the same source, so a screen is written once and released twice through the App Store and Google Play. Web apps run on ReactJS, on Node.js services hosted on AWS. Many builds need both.

Can you build an app for a brokerage?

Yes. Upstox's channel partners use a mobile app we built to manage their operations and track their own performance. For a brokerage, that usually means three apps that have to agree: the app that clients trade in, the app that partners sell from, and the internal tool operations reconciles in.

Can you build investment apps?

We have. We rebuilt the social investing platform Parrot Finance runs, from the screens an investor opens to the released app, and stayed on after launch. Where an investor app shows live prices, it reads them through Front API. Releases land in two-week increments, so you see working screens early.

Can you build a fintech app from an existing idea?

Yes. Bring the idea, a requirements document or a process you already run, and we turn it into app screens you can click. The prototype covers the hardest screen first, in Figma, before anything is built. From there it runs in two-week increments to a release on the stores.

Can you work with our existing systems?

Yes, and the app layer is where most of it lands. Your identity provider handles sign-in, your core systems supply positions and prices, and orders go back the same way. We map every system the app touches in the first two weeks, before screens are built.
